Standard Mileage Rate Tax Deduction Increase
The IRS has announced that the optional mileage allowance will increase to 40.5 cents for the 2005 fiscal year. This constitutes an increase of 3 cents from the 2004 standard mileage rate of 37.5 cents for business travel. The rate increase is the largest ever and is due to higher prices for vehicles and fuel.
