IRS Says Federal Workers Owe Over 3 Billion In Unpaid Taxes
The government screams about tax cheats depriving it of money. Oooppps. It turns out federal workers owe over 3 billion in unpaid taxes according to the IRS.As you've probably noticed, the federal government is spending as much money as it can borrow or print to try to get us out of the Great Recession. This has, of course, led to new wails of anguish from Congress regarding the tax cheats that don't pay their fair share of taxes due each year. This results in a rather vague "tax gap" of some $300 billion dollars, a number which appears to be based on a rather specious guess by the IRS.

The IRS has discovered that a whopping three billion in unpaid taxes is owed by federal employees. Yes, the government's very own employees aren't paying. The biggest offender is the United States Postal Service with just under $300 million owed. The USPS employees roughly 700,000 employees and 29,000 owe taxes.
