Crooked IRS Agent Nailed For Soliciting and Taking Bribes
An IRS audit is a scary thing. Well, just imagine being audited and having the IRS agent suggest you pay them a bribe for a lower tax hit? It just happened and the agent got nailed.
The case comes to us from Minnesota. The two owners of an unidentified business were called in to the IRS on a business audit. The agent, Roger A. Combs, told the owners that the business owed a whopping $60,000 in back taxes. He then subtly suggested he could get the IRS to settle for $11,000 if he personally received $9,700 in cash.

The unidentified owners agreed to the bribe. One secretly recorded a subsequent conversation with the agent and then reported it to authorities. A criminal investigation was undertaken and the owners were told to proceed with the bribes. They were photographed giving $3,000 to Combs. The rest was subsequently paid in another meeting. Upon receipt of that money, Combs was arrested and charged with a host of crimes.
Business owners often feel like the government is stealing from them when it comes to taxes. In this case, that appears to have literally been the case!
